Salon~360’s February theme, Economic Liberation, garnered lots of interest from participants, calling for the opportunity to revisit this dialogue. At that event we screened scenes from a documentary, enjoyed presentations by Dr. Angela Sims and Carlton Robinson, and entertained the question: Can systemic, economic disadvantages be overcome?

WuzAlso joining us, Wasilah “Wuz” Smith is a fashion designer and entrepreneur. He started making and selling clothing at 14 years of age under his brand A$ID (all the money I deserve) Life. Wuz learned to sew from his grandmother at her machine, where he still does his work. This year, at 17, he has launched a new clothing line under his new brand, ASID Luxury. His prolific out put of fashion designs has garnered him more than 23,000 followers on Instagram (@officialwuz).”I don’t want people to just look at the clothes and think, ‘I like it.’ Kids are like, ‘I like it. I don’t know why I like it, but I like it.’ I want people to look at the fabrics and understand the different looks of my work. I want them to understand why they bought this, what they’re wearing, what they’ve got on,” Wuz told the Kansas City Star. The young man, the artist and fashion designer behind ASID Luxury is establishing his pattern in the art world.
